Suggestopedia Method

Hello! Welcome back!

So, in today´s class, we learned about the Suggestopedia method, which stimulates students´ brains by playing relaxing music (barroque and classical back in time) in the background while they do activities. Suggestopedia was first proposed in the19709´s by Georgi Lozanov an expert on psychology and psychiatry. He strongly believed that the learning environment was of huge importance. Students who are in a relaxing, interesting, and positive environment, learn more quickly, to his mind. I personally believe that it can work in specific activities because it promotes creativity and concentration. However, as discussed in class, we shouldn´t over-rely on this method because it can turn out to be a distractor instead an incentive if used the wrong way.

We talked about the Affective filter, which indicates that for students to learn, they need to be totally ok. If a student is hungry, emotionally unstable, sleepless, or in any other negative circumstance, it is harder to learn if not impossible. We had a couple of activities, we talked about the memories of our childhood and teenage years and it was surprising how music endures in our minds. Then, we did a short composition task about our last vacations. Later we drew something while the teacher played a song and it shocked me how most of us drew things related to nature. I was focused and relaxed, and to be honest, a little sleepy :D. We also translated a song: Mist by Ella Fitzgerard while listening to its melodies, and in order to apply this method to vocabulary acquisition, we listened to a song and wrote down a list of animals of a farm and then we crossed out the words in our list as we heard them.

Hello dear teacher and classmates!! Welcome to another weekly entry. Time flies and I can´t believe we are already in a new register! Body language, coordination, and improvisation

Hello! Welcome to a new entry! Thanks once again, for taking the time to read my thoughts on a new topic. This time, I will describe all about our body language class, coordination, and improvisation. In this class, we learned a lot of useful tips to improve our body language, we did many exercises, and I loved our very dynamic class. To start off, we made some space in the classroom and arranged ourselves into two rows, one in front of the other. Then we had to keep eye contact with the person in front of us, trying to be serious. I was in front of Dani, and it was difficult at the beginning but then I could focus better and made it to the end! This kind of exercise helps us be serious even when students might be telling jokes or laughing but we, teachers, have to be focused on what we are doing and try to look professional and serious when needed. Describing Teachers

Hi again! Welcome back to a new entry! Today we´re going to talk about teachers, yes! teachers and their amazing job and characteristics. We all have our perceptions about teachers.
