Groups 7 and 8

Hello everyone! This is Incredibly the last entry to my blog  of English Didactics II, it has been an amazing journey in which we all learned a lot. Follow me to find out what last class was all about. Unfortunately,I couldn't attend our last class because I had the   be one of the MU interpreters for a couple of days! However, I was very entertained reading and seeing the pictures in my classmates' posts. I really liked Maru's entry so, I will recall some of her thoughts on the class. The first group was Diana's. They reviewed some things from the previous class and played a game called Hangman. They also presented some keywords like "a quater to____" to say the time, which is great because they hadn't learned those until then. This group made some activities with there is and there are, and finally they had a controlled activity to practice with writing exercises. After that, they made students come to the board to stick some images completeing a vo

Groups 5 and 6

Hello everyone! Welcome to another post!  Group 5: Last Thursday it was my groups turn to present. We arrived early and at first we just had an student so I worried a bit but then more students joined. My group's topic was the time, so we made sure that we explained it trough different engaging activities. Our class turned out to be a very dynamic one and I could really tell students enjoyed it and learned something new, even if they had a clue about the topic already. Our class started with the warm up, Miriam lead the activity which was called " the human knot" and it made students awake, i think they had fun and got ready to engage in our class. After that, Fernando explained the topic, he started by gelling students that we use numbers so they quickly reviewed it as they were getting more into the topic, he did it with a great energy and he even took advantage of the a magic moment to introduce a new word. Then dani took a "magic basket" and the ones getting

Hello everyone! Thank you for being back reading my weekly entry! Today’s topic was simple present  and routines.  The first group was Jonathan’s and Josh’s. They started their class with a choosing activity, students had to  choose the image in the left or in the right. Jonathan would say an action and Ss would pick  what image represented what they heard.  After that, teachers refreshed the previous topic about daily routine. They quickly presented the vocabulary.  Then Abi, gave SS a spreadsheet and played a video in which speakers would narrate their daily routines.  Right after that, Abi checked the answers along with students, they would answer “true” or “false” for every statement. This is Jonathan in his “teacher mode” clearing up some doubts promptly. Then they moved to practice time lead by Rodrigo.  Students had a conversation and answered the question “what do you usually do on your birthday/on Christmas?” For which they had to use the vocabulary they already knew, like “

Hello everyone! Welcome back to a new register of blogs. I feel ready  yo tell you all about our students and their progress in the classroom, the different groups and the activities that we carry out weekly as teachers.✨📚 The first group was Noé’s. They presented vocabulary and did some cool games and activities to develop the topic. They started with charades. The teachers explained to students what the game consisted of and then one by one would go to the front and represent a word through mimics. I think this was a nice way to start the class. Then, teachers presented vocabulary related to the routine, I get up, I brush my teeth, I go to work and had students repeat. Following up, they moved on to the next topic, frequency adverbs and explained to class the  percentages of use. Then they had their practice, for which they gave students a piece of paper to pick the right frequency adverbs, while they did that they played Adele in the background using suggestopedia, which was very

Classes by groups 1 & 2

Hi Teacher and classmates, welcome to the very start of our journey as teacher!  Today it was groups 1 and 2 chance to perform as teachers, they did quite well, and we all were excited to have our students for the very first time! Diana’s group was the first one and I liked from the fact that they took into consideration giving everyone a name tag. They taught greetings and the alfabeto. The way this group carried out an activity for everyone to wet to know each other was on point. It was very necessary since students might be nervous because they don’t know anyone, so I think these kind of activities are simple yet effective as icebreakers. The second group was Eli’s. They had an unscramble activity in which students had to make sentences like “I am sad”, “ she is angry” etc.  Finally, students created  a role play using everything they had learned. Here are some pics of the class! :)

Feedback

Hi everyone!! This past September the 7th we received our feedback. We didn’t have a class as such, but it was very important to get our feedback on our las tradition (the demo class we performed) you can read my last blog as well :). So, teacher Orlando gathered us team by team, and he told us what we had done very well and what we could improve. Ir esa bofe yo hear from téchese Orlando that we did goos overall land that he had liked our energy very much. We faced some challenges like being rushed by the people outside the classroom and some setbacks, but we could manage to go for a plan B.  This is teacher Orlando explaining to us what we have to do for our next evaluation!

Lesson plans

Hello everyone! It’s nice having you back!  We learned how to craft our lesson plans, teacher Orlando shared some very useful tips that I will share with you in a moment. First of all we all agreed that PPT is used for grammar and vocabulary classes, whereas PDP is used for listening and reading classes.  PPT envolver  Warm up:  We reviewed some aspects like the important things to keep in mind while warming up. It shout be short, we can start with question time. In the PRODUCTION: We use the language, students produce and follow structures. Up to this point we should be CCQing our students. Besides, As teachers, should make sure we use the pair-share-technique in which students first work on their own, then they should work in pairs and last but no least, the class share answers as a whole. The production can or should be in an oral way or written way.  Teacher Orlando also said that we shouldn’t forget to add controlled and free practices. And controlled should go before free. We can
